Kurzgesagt – ‘in a nutshell’

If you like science explained in an accessible fashion, you’ll love Kurzgesagt; their YouTube channel is chock full of really interesting, informative science videos presented as humourous, informal animated short films, taking on some of the most complicated fields of scientific research imaginable including topics such as vacuum decay, human origins and genetic engineering.

Kurzgesagt (German for ‘in a nutshell’) is a Munich based youtube channel and design studio with a distinctive perspective on design, color and story telling. Founded in 2013 the studio engages in information design projects of all kinds. We are convinced that good things take time, care and precision. In an age of information overload we try to produce content that has value and that people actually notice and remember. There is no boring topic, you just have to tell a good story.

They have playlists on ‘Science and Stuff‘ and ‘Science and other stuff explained‘ for your enjoyment; they also have plenty of other playlists to choose from, or you can view a chronological playlist of all of their videos. They also cover a wide range of topics as well as science! And of course, you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter as well.

As an introduction, here’s their video about who invented the Internet:
