The January talk will be given by Dr Darren Bradshaw, School of Chemistry, University of Southampton.

The nanoscale space within high surface area porous solids such as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) allows chemists and materials scientist’s to control the reactivity and organisation of guest molecules hosted within. This presentation will explore some of the unique properties of MOFs arising from their hybrid organic-inorganic composition, including dynamic guest responsive behaviour, use as crystalline sponges and how they are currently being exploited in carbon capture and hydrogen storage.

Dr Darren Bradshaw is an Associate Professor in the School of Chemistry at the University of Southampton, where he leads the Functional Inorganic, Materials and Supramolecular research section. He is a coordination chemist by training and has been engineering the nanospace regime for the last 15 years.
