Prof. Euan Nisbet is in the Department of Earth Sciences at the Royal Holloway College, where he specialises in Archaean Geology. He is a leading expert on atmospheric methane, CH4, and is co-ordinator of Meth-MonitEU, which is the European Union methane monitoring programme. Global atmospheric levels of the gas now stand at 1,790 parts per billion, having risen by 160 ppb since 1984. Prof Nisbet may help us understand the causes of these recent increases and their implications in climate changes.
