The April talk will be given by Alan Frener, Ambassador for the BLOODHOUND SSC Project. The project has the following objectives:

  • Inspire the next generation about science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
  • Share an iconic research and development programme with a global audience.
  • Set a new World Land Speed Record of 1000mph

As the project website says:

BLOODHOUND SSC is a unique, high-technology project to design and build a car that will break the 1,000mph barrier and set a new world land speed record. Designed and constructed in the UK, BLOODHOUND SSC includes components and sponsorship from international companies and will make its record attempt in South Africa.

To help do this it is supported by a team of volunteers, known as BLOODHOUND Ambassadors.

Alan Frener is an IT consultant and former owner of a classic car restoration business.  As a friend of the Bloodhound Project Director, Richard Noble, he has been an Ambassador for the project since its inception. Alan is one of the Bloodhound project’s most active Ambassadors having presented to over a 100 audiences from 5 year olds to CEOs of large PLCs and can happily talk for hours about the project!

In his spare time Alan is studying for a degree in physics from the Open University and is a Vice President of Salisbury Rugby club.
