The June talk will be given by Dr Christos Bergeles of the Department of Medical Physics and Bioengineering at University College London within the Translational Imaging Group of CMIC. Christos will be talking about his research into robotic medical devices for ophthalmic surgery.

Dr Bergeles is an expert in robotics and other medical devices. He conducts research on medical devices for ophthalmic surgery particularly the development of miniaturised and modular robotic tools for vitreoretinal surgery, computer vision methods of intraocular image analysis, and the development of an inexpensive ophthalmoscope. He will talk about miniaturised robots running around in your eyes to deliver drugs and conduct surgery, and he will be bringing examples of robotic prototypes with him.
